Poland invests in innovation – the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Fund
Investments in artificial intelligence-based technologies are currently the foundation for the development of entities, enterprises, and entire nations. Key government institutions have signed a letter of intent to establish the Artificial Intelligence Fund in Poland.
The signatories include:
- Ministry of Digital Affairs,
- Ministry of National Defense,
- Ministry of Science and Higher Education,
- National Center for Research and Development,
- Polish Development Fund,
- National Science Center,
- Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (Bank of National EconomyBGK).
The aim of this initiative is to support the development of artificial intelligence technologies in Poland through the creation of innovative technological solutions and their implementation in the economy and administration sectors.
Objectives of the Fund
The letter of intent outlines the main organizational and financial assumptions of the Fund. The signatories expressed their willingness to undertake joint actions to establish management structures for the Fund and to develop detailed principles for its operation. The next step will be to create an operational plan and secure funding sources to achieve the Fund’s objectives.
The purpose of the Fund is to strengthen Poland’s position as a leader in advanced technology in Europe. The Fund plans to support the development of technologies such as the Polish Large Language Model (PLLuM) and the implementation of AI systems in key areas, including:
- education,
- healthcare,
- defense,
- industry.
The program also includes financial support for startups as well as small and medium-sized enterprises.
As part of its activities, the Fund also envisages the development of international cooperation, particularly with European Union countries, and strengthening collaboration with the private sector.
The Fund also aims to stimulate innovation in strategic sectors such as defense and digitalization, which could significantly contribute to the growth of the Polish economy’s competitiveness.
Fund Council and future activities
The signatories of the letter of intent will establish the Artificial Intelligence Fund Council, which will serve as an advisory body supporting the development of AI technologies in line with ethical and safety principles. The Council’s tasks will include monitoring fund allocation and initiating projects promoting the responsible implementation of artificial intelligence in Poland.
