The EBA launched a general European register of payment services providers (PDS2)
On March 18th 2019 the European Banking Authority (EBA) launched its central electronic register under article 15(1) of the PSD2 Directive. The register will provide information on several thousand payment and electronic money institutions and thousands of agents within the EU. The objective is to increase transparency and ensure a high level of consumer protection within the European Single Market.
The EBA Register provides systematized information, on inter alia:
- full name / identity / address data of the payment services providers (payment institutions, electronic money institutions, payment initiation service providers, account information service providers),
- the country of establishment and the regulator,
- the scope of payment services provided, the date of obtaining PSD license,
- information on passporting payment services activity outside the host Member State.
