The MOS system launches on 27 April, with CUKR residence card applications opening on 4 May
On 27 April 2026, the MOS system will be launched, introducing mandatory electronic submission of residence permit applications. A few days later, from 4 May, applications for CUKR residence cards will open. For some foreign nationals, this means that prompt action will be required to maintain continuity of legal stay.

New timelines for the MOS system and CUKR residence cards
Following new announcements by the Office for Foreigners and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, the exact launch dates for key IT solutions for foreigners in Poland have been confirmed.
MOS system from 27 April – new rules for submitting applications
New MOS system from April 27, 2026 Full functionality of the Case Handling Module (MOS) IT system will be made available to users on April 27, 2026. Starting from this date, applications for temporary residence, permanent residence, and EU long-term resident permits must be submitted exclusively electronically via this portal.
Applications before 27 April and CUKR cards from 4 May – key deadlines
Important warning: Individuals whose legal stay in Poland expires before April 27, 2026, or approximately two weeks after this date, are advised to submit their paper applications as soon as possible.

It is crucial to note that a paper application must physically reach the voivodeship office no later than April 26, 2026. If an application arrives after this date, it will not be examined. Importantly, in this case, the postmark date will not be considered, only the physical receipt of the document by the office matters.
What these changes mean in practice for foreign nationals and employers?
CUKR residence cards from May 4, 2026 Another significant update is the launch date for the submission of applications for a residence card bearing the annotation “Previously holding temporary protection” (the so-called CUKR residence card) for Ukrainian citizens. This process will begin on May 4, 2026. These applications will also be handled through the new MOS portal.
Will you be able to submit your application before the new rules take effect?
The coming weeks will be critical for foreign nationals whose legal stay in Poland is about to expire, as well as for employers responsible for ensuring lawful employment. An incorrectly submitted or late application may result in a loss of continuity of legal stay.
