The Polish Parliament adopted the statutory guarantee of cash payments acceptance

Polish Sejm (the lower chamber of Polish Parliament) adopted the draft novel to the Payment Services Act which was presented by the Polish President Andrzej Duda.

The draft novel includes NBP inspired changes concerning the compulsory acceptance of cash by merchants / professional vendors, which are materialized in projected art. 59ea Payment Services Act, according to which merchants shall not:

(i) conclude a B2C contract conditional on cashless payment and,

(ii) refuse to accept payment in B2C relation with Polish currency, however, according to a recent change, this will apply up to the amount of the average salary in the enterprise sector (currently PLN 5,775.25) – meaning that the payments exceeding such value will not be covered by the statutory guarantee,

(iii) charge any additional fees for accepting payment in B2C relation with Polish currency,

(iv) differentiate the price depending on payment method.
