Elimination of the possibility of submitting a paper application for an A1 certificate

As of 1 april 2022, the regulations governing the application for and issuance of A1 certificates have changed.

As a result of these changes, the application for an A1 document can only be submitted electronically via the PUE ZUS website. The Social Security Institution (ZUS) no longer accepts applications in paper form.

The issuance of the document also takes place in electronic form, i.e. ZUS issues the A1 certificate in the form of an electronic document, which is made available to the applicant on the PUE ZUS website.

The Social Insurance Institution’s website also launched a service to verify the validity and authenticity of the A1 certificate.

The A1 document confirms the relevant social insurance legislation for a person who, for example, is temporarily posted to work in another country or regularly performs work in several countries.
