Works pending on so-called diversification regulation

The Ministry of Energy is working on changes of so-called diversification regulation, which defines the minimum level of diversification of gas supplies from one country abroad.

According to current edition of Ordinance on diversification of 2000, importers can bring no more than 59 percent of their annual import from one country.

As informs „Rzeczpospolita”, referring to information from the press office of the ministry, work on the new regulations is already underway and soon will be submitted for public consultation.

Furthermore, current diversification level is not the only brake for development of polish gas market. Ministry of Energy has already submitted a timetable for the elimination of gas tariffs and changes in the Energy Law, due to the judgment of the Court of Justice of the EU of September 10th, 2015.

The Ministry has proposed that companies which sell gas for the biggest companies have been exempted from the obligation to submit for approval of tariffs from April 2017, for the micro and small enterprises sector – from October 2017, and for households – from January 2024.
