Significant changes to the Act on Social Insurance
On August 19, 2021, the President of the Republic of Poland signed the Act amending the Act on Social Insurance, which will significantly change the situation of both employees and self-employed persons.
Some of the changes will enter into force on January 1, 2022, and the remaining changes will enter into force later this year.
The most important changes include:
– late payment of the voluntary sickness contributions will not result in the loss of entitlement to sickness benefits,
– the period of receiving sickness allowance after the termination of employment will be reduced from 182 days to a maximum of 91 days,
– the amount of the sickness allowance for the period of stay in the hospital will be equal to the amount of the allowance for the period of sickness spent at home,
– the Social Insurance Institution will inform companies about existing arrears in the payments of contributions.
