Sugar tax from 1.01.2021

It was added to Act of public health from 11.09.2015 new regulations imposing charge from foodstuff. Obligated payers will be subjects placing on the market to retail sale or producers and importers selling mentioned drinks to retail sale. The amount of fee is 0,50 PLN for 5g of sugar in 100ml of drink. The maximum rate is 1,2 PLN in liter of drink. For particular drinks are predicted reduced rates.

Revenues from the charge will be in 96.5% revenue of National Health Found and 3.5% of Ministry of Finance. The aim of a new charge is to change dietary habits of society – the reduction of consumption of sugar.
