The first European Mastercard Cybersecurity Center
This is a very interesting project aimed at creation of a modern facility that is to create a synergy effect by supporting the cooperation of public and private sector entities and regulatory authorities. The cooperation of central authorities, industry organizations and law enforcement agencies within the Center is to help European entrepreneurs fight off cyber threats.
The Center is to cooperate with national cybersecurity centers, including European Cyber Crime and Fraud Investigators (ECCFI), Euro Cyber Resilience Board (ECRB), Europol, Financial Services Information and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC), Interpol, British National Crime Agency (NCA) and National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) and also the National Bank of Belgium. The Center is to improve internal communication between company teams as well as external communication with partners and clients. The response time to global events is expected to be significantly reduced. The efficiency of operations in the event of global threats, disasters and disruptions in the operation of electronic services is to increase. The Center also aims to comply with data protection regulations.
Mastercard CEO Javier Perez admitted that the financial industry has been a favorite hacker target for years. Therefore, the Cybersecurity Center will improve the cooperation of the largest players and give customers a sense of security of their data during their online processing.
A temporary center is to start operating in spring. The target facility should be ready in 2021
