ZUS / social security contributions – can they be paid with a card?

Under current provisions of the Social Security System Act, ZUS / social security contributions can be paid only in the form of a wire transfer. The amendment to this Act is currently pending in Polish Parliament – and introducing the so-called Small ZUS Plus is aimed at changing this status – we expect that the new regulation will allow the payment of ZUS / social security contributions not only by a payment card (debit, credit), but also by means of other payment instruments, such as BLIK.

All above thanks to the concept of the interbank electronic system used by the Social Security System Act, which as a statutory definition only refers to the ELIXIR system operated by Krajowa Izba Rozliczeniowa S.A. (KIR). The proposed changes should not only speed up / facilitate the payment process to the contribution payers, but also allow them to obtain financing (e.g. within the credit card limit).
