Virtual cash register regulations from June 1, 2020
On June 1, 2020, the provisions on the so-called „virtual cash registers” i.e. software-based cash registers (not to be confused with online fiscal cash registers) will come into force.
The full name of the legal acts signed by the Minister of Finance are: Regulation of the Minister of Finance on cash registers in the form of software and Regulation of the Minister of Finance on the group of taxpayers or types of activities for which it is possible to use cash registers in the form of software.
The use of virtual cash registers is not obligatory. It will only provide an alternative solution for entrepreneurs in the sectors using cash registers. As we read on www.podatki.gov.pl website, virtual cash registers will be allowed for use in the transport industry and industries that were the earliest to be covered by the obligation to have online cash registers (i.e. originally from July 1, 2020), among them: catering and hospitality.
As is the case with online cash registers, virtual cash registers will have to undergo certification carried out by the Central Office of Measures. The issuance of a certificate for a virtual cash register confirms the compliance of its operations with the requirements, in particular those concerning security.
